St. Paul's Nursery School Purpose
The objective of St. Paul’s Nursery School is to provide a program flexible enough to meet the needs of each individual child for his physical, social, intellectual, emotional and religious training. We are always striving to help the child accept himself and to feel good about himself.
At St. Paul’s we plan experiences for the whole child so that she can reach her fullest potential. We try to provide a healthy, creative atmosphere where the child can develop at her own pace by participating in activities that will help her to adjust to a more formal learning situation in the future, while having fun in the present.
Throughout the year, handcrafts, music and stories are planned around central themes such as holidays, the community and nature. Activities often evolve from the children’s own interests and suggestions. Community resources are used whenever possible. Many of these activities provide opportunities for informal religious discussion and participation, designed to help the child begin to build a religious foundation for his everyday life.
Much of our nursery school program is devoted to the physical development of the children. Indoors, we have mats for tumbling, climbing apparatus, balancing beam, and tables for sand and water play. Outdoors, we have an enclosed play yard with a sandbox, a jungle gym, slides, balls, wagons and an assortment of riding toys.
Above all, St. Paul’s Nursery School endeavors to create a climate of enthusiastic participation and an atmosphere of love and cooperation.
